Crist (ASN: 2337325), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Headquarters Company, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Roncheres, on 28 July 1918, Private Crist exposed himself to heavy shell fire in order to repair telephone wire to the front line. He succeeded in accomplishing his mission despite the fact that shell fire repeatedly broke the lines both in front of and behind him while he was working on them.
