Clem (ASN: 1403016), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Clem distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 370th Infantry Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Mont-de-Sanges, France, 20 September 1918, in taking command in reorganizing his platoon at a time when the line was exposed to heavy counter-attack.
