No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Thomas Blaine (ASN: 2339095), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company H, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Blaine displayed great courage near la Tieulerie Farm on 23 July 1918, when he crawled one hundred and fifty meters across an open field swept by heavy machine gun fire and attempted to capture a house known to shield several enemy machine guns.
