Horse Shoer Arthur distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 1st Gas Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Tete du Violu, France, 5 – 6 August 1918, in assisting in the discharge of a battery of twenty gas projector bombs.
