    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Mr. Richard C. Shreve, Y.M.C.A., a United States Civilian, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Mr. Shreve distinguished himself by gallantry in action while attached to the 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Crezancy, France, 15 – 16 July 1918, in rendering first aid to wounded and in evacuating them to safety under enemy fire.

    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Mr. Richard C. Shreve, Y.M.C.A., a United States Civilian, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Mr. Shreve rendered splendid heroic courage and disregard of personal danger. He rendered first aid to wounded in shell beaten areas and removed them in his auto to places of safety during 15 – 16 July 1918, when no other transportation was available. This took place near Crezancy, France.
