    Headquarters, 3d Division, A.E.F., Citation Orders No. 22 (July 8, 1919)

By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Robert A. Dickman, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company C, 3d Supply Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the afternoon of 16 July 1918, while driving a truck hauling ammunition to the 10th Field Artillery in the vicinity of Le Rocq, France, Corporal Dickman displayed unusual devotion to duty by crossing and re-crossing an exposed area under heavy shell fire, where after unloading his truck with the assistance of two artillery officers and his assistant, he was painfully wounded in the hand, but stuck to his post and directed the return of his truck to safety before going to a dressing station.
