By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Leon Fox, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company A, 3d Supply Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, while under the direct observation of the enemy, near Courboin, France, 16 July 1918, and during a heavy shelling of the roads to be travelled, Sergeant Fox displayed exceptional courage and disregard for his personal safety, convoying the trucks under his control to a place of safety under extreme difficulties.
