By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Arthur Luckhardt (ASN: 1193451), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 3d Sanitary Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the period from 1 to 31 October 1918, near Montfaucon, France, Private First Class Luckhardt performed his duties as Runner in such manner as to merit highest consideration. By his untiring efforts and his courage, he assisted in the maintenance of liaison between the ambulance and battalion dressing stations. His example was an inspiration to all.
