By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Wagoner Alfred G. Coleman (ASN: 1196282), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Ambulance Company No. 5, 3d Sanitary Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Wagoner Coleman drove his ambulance during the entire engagement on the Marne from 14 July to 10 August 1918, and also in the Argonne-Meuse Sector. He displayed extraordinary heroism in both these engagements, especially during the morning of 15 July, when he evacuated wounded from Le Rocq Ferme, through the intense German barrage.
