    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Albert C. Peterson (ASN: 1193337), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 3d Sanitary Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Montfaucon, France, during the period from 18 to 21 October 1918, Sergeant Peterson, in command of an ambulance platoon, skillfully and efficiently directed the evacuation of wounded through heavy artillery fire, rendering valuable assistance with animal transportation where evacuation by motor was impossible.
