By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Percy C. Brayman (ASN: 1140009), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 3d Sanitary Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Brayman was in charge of a detail of liter bearers for duty with the 38th Infantry Regiment at Mezy, France, on 21 July 1918. He exhibited unusual courage and leadership, always working under intense shell fire. Many wounded men were carried to places of shelter and dressed by this detail.
