By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant First Class Alfons M. Roth (ASN: 1196166), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Field Hospital Company No. 27, 3d Sanitary Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, from 4 June to 28 July 1918, at Verdelot, France, Sergeant First Class Roth displayed unusual ability and skill in the handling of the casualty records of the organization during the above stated period. He was constantly devoted to his duties, and at all hours, day and night, continued to perform his part of the work of keeping the records of 4,512 patients admitted from 15 to 28 July 1918.
