By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Captain (Medical Corps Robert L. Grimes, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While Commanding Ambulance Company No. 27, 3d Sanitary Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during our recent offensive on the Argonne, Captain Grimes especially distinguished himself. At Montfaucon from 1 to 30 October 1918, he manifested such zeal and fearless courage, and disregard for personal safety in his care and attention to the evacuation of wounded soldiers, as to inspire his men to the greatest efforts. To his energy, bravery and coolness under the constant shell fire around Montfaucon is largely due the success which marked the evacuation and handling of wounded men during our operations in this sector.
