By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Nicholas F. Brosnan (ASN: 2669760), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery E, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Brosnan displayed conspicuous services in battle under heavy bombardment of the enemy on the night of 14 – 15 July 1918, near Norvins Ferme, France. He showed a high degree of skill and efficiency in carrying out his duty in an exposed position as a sentry watching for gas shells, and giving promptly the gas alarms.
