Harvey (ASN: 306767), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery F, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Cunel, France, 28 October 1918, Private First Class Harvey displayed conspicuous bravery and exceptional devotion to duty in action in remaining at his post in “No Man’s Land” forty-eight hours without relief during heavy barrages, keeping communication in operation for battalion observation posts.
