    Headquarters, 3d Division, A.E.F., Citation Orders No. 22 (July 8, 1919)

By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Second Lieutenant (Field Artillery) George W. Norrick, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 18th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Lieutenant Norrick showed much courage and unusual devotion to duty in refusing to be evacuated, although badly burned by gas. He continued his duties from 15 to 20 July 1918, without ceasing. He gave invaluable help in the direction of fire of the battery, near Le Perle Farm, France, during the bombardment, with gas and high explosive shells. He also helped strengthen the morale of the firing battery under the most trying circumstances.
