By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Paul Rowslovski, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery D, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 14 – 15 July 1918, near Greves Ferme, France, he stayed with his piece and continued the fire throughout a most savage enemy barrage of gas and high explosive shell which wiped out 50% of the men at the battery. When the ammunition on hand was expended, he searched the woods, while the bombardment was still in full progress, for piles of shell known to have been left by the French whom his battalion relieved, and carried these to the guns, thereby setting a splendid example to his comrades and rendered great service to his government by enabling a most important S.O.S. barrage to be fired with great efficiency.
