By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Theodore Walsh, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery C, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on the night of 15 July 1918, Private Walsh was liaison runner between 1st Battalion of the 10th Field Artillery and the 38th Infantry Regiment, near St. Eugene, France. The enemy were making a flanking movement and Private Walsh was sent back with a request for artillery fire. On his way he was wounded in the arm but delivered his message, had his arm dressed and reported back for duty. He continued bravely at his task, taking to the artillery many more important messages.
