By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal John Foy, Corporal John A. Camp, Corporal Harry C. Ferrel, Private First Class Patrick O’Halloran, Private Axel Nylund, and Private Walter Seel, United States Army, are cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded them. While serving with the 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, from 6 to 11 November 1918, at Brandyville, France, while the regiment was engaged with the enemy, these men volunteered to take an accompanying gun up to the Infantry and fired it continually along with the Infantry during heavy shellfire and gas.
