By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Harry C. Mall (ASN: 1038379), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Mall served faithfully and courageously with his battery throughout the actions on the Marne, at St. Mihiel and in the Argonne, volunteering his services to carry ammunition by hand from a dump more than a mile distant when all the ammunition at the battery had been expended and owing to terrific shell fire it was impossible to bring up caissons.
