By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private William McNulty (ASN: 1038377), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private McNulty served faithfully and courageously as a cannoneer during the actions on the Marne, St. Mihiel and the Argonne. During the engagement on the Marne, 15 July 1918, he voluntarily carried ammunition by hand for more than a mile over shell-swept roads when all ammunition had been expended and it was impossible to get caissons to the battery position.
