By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private James P. Jensen (ASN: 1039135), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery F, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, the morning of 15 July 1918, near Chateau Thierry, France, Private Jensen gave an example of the greatest courage and bravery and endurance during one of the heaviest artillery bombardments of the war. Early in the engagement he was wounded by a shell splinter but refused relief, and continued his work about the gun with coolness.
