    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Fred P. Grundish (ASN: 170052), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Grundish served faithfully and efficiently with his battery during the actions on the Marne, St. Mihiel, and the Argonne. He rendered valuable services on the Marine 15 July 1918, in helping to maintain telephone communication under great difficulty and danger. He acted as Driver on an ammunition wagon, 15 July 1918, and under heavy shell fire gave valuable aid to his wounded companions, when the wagon was hit by an enemy shell.
