By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Virgil W. Crow (ASN: 1038346), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Crow served with his battery faithfully and courageously during the action on the Marne. He succeeded in taking a message from the ammunition dump to his Battery Commander through a terrific barrage and returned with an answer through heavy shell fire, at all times conducting himself in a courageous and soldierly manner and rendering valuable services to his command.
