    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Albert O. Williams (ASN: 2314210), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the action on the Marne, 14 July to 2 August 1918, Private First Class Williams was acting as telephone linesman and showed great courage and devotion to duty by constantly exposing himself to the greatest danger in maintaining and repairing the lines while exposed to heavy shell fire. He served with his battery courageously and efficiently throughout the St. Mihiel and Argonne operations.
