By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Edwin H. Shuford, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Shuford was a member of a B.C. detail during the operation on the Marne 14 – 15 July 1918, and rendered valuable service until badly wounded. He was untiring in his efforts to maintain communication, fearlessly making frequent trips over the lines and effecting repairs under heavy shell fire.
