By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Joseph Roskoski (ASN: 1038322), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Roskoski served his battery courageously and efficiently during the entire action on the Marne, at St. Mihiel, and in the Argonne. On the Marne, 15 July 1918, when all ammunition at the battery position had been expended and it was impossible to bring up caissons owing to the heavy shelling, he voluntarily carried ammunition by hand more than a mile, being exposed to great danger.
