    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Antonio Papitone (ASN: 1038316), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Papitone served with his battery faithfully and courageously throughout the actions on the Marne, at St. Mihiel and the Argonne. On the night of 14 – 15 July 1918, being with an ammunition train that was heavily shelled, he was unable to get his team to a place of safety and remained with them throughout the night in an exposed position and without shelter and in the morning was able to get them back to the echelon.
