    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Dave Griffith (ASN: 1038363), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Griffith served with his battery courageously and efficiently during the entire engagement on the Marne, at St. Mihiel, and at the Argonne. During the Marine engagement, although wounded in the hand, he insisted on remaining with his piece until sent to a dressing statin, then returned as soon as his wounds had been dressed. During the engagement in the Argonne he served with a forward piece until the gun was put out of action and himself wounded.
