By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Floyd E. Bourland, Private Clement Bushman, and Chief Mechanic Guy L. Etheridge, United States Army, are cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded them. While serving with the 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, these men distinguished themselves near Courboin, France, 15 – 18 July 1918, by performing their duties as cannoneers for ninety-six hours consecutively under heavy bombardment, by their heroic action keeping the guns ready at all times and aiding materially in the success gained.
