    Headquarters, 3d Division, A.E.F., Citation Orders No. 22 (July 8, 1919)

By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Wagoner George Clark, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Service Company, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Wagoner Clark voluntarily braved the terrific shelling of the German Offensive of 15 July 1918, gathered the wounded from the vicinity about two and one half kilometers northeast of Conde-en-Brie, and hauled them to the dressing station at Courboin; with men being wounded around him, and repeated warnings of the danger of his worthy task, he continued to display unparalleled bravery and coolness until all the wounded were off the field. His splendid conduct not only saved the wounded many hours of untold suffering but was an inspiration to those around him.
