By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Watson J. Robinson (ASN: 1038320), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Corporal Robinson served his battery faithfully and courageously throughout the entire actions of the Marne, St. Mihiel, and the Argonne. During the operation north of Verdun, 13 October 1918, while a member of the crew of the forward gun did coolly and efficiently serve his piece until the last round of ammunition had been expended, and while exposed to heavy shell fire, machine and rifle fire from two directions. After being relieved he was sent back to the echelon to go on sick report, being so sick and weak he could not walk, but hearing that his entire gun crew had been either killed or wounded was the first to ask permission to return to the gun.
