    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal John A. Reese (ASN: 1038406), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Corporal Reese was a member of B.C. Detail during the Marne engagement, constantly exposing himself while going over and repairing lines under heavy shell fire. He also acted as ammunition guide, remaining in exposed and unprotected positions frequently all night to guide the ammunition train. He was at all times faithful and courageous in the performance of his duties until wounded 30 July 1918.
