By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Arthur L. Fritz (ASN: 1038360), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Corporal Fritz served faithfully and efficiently with his battery throughout the actions of the Marne, St. Mihiel and the Argonne. While serving as member of a gun crew on the Marne, 15 July 1918, he voluntarily carried ammunition by hand more than a mile, making two trips over a road that was being so heavily shelled that it was impassable to vehicles.
