By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Royden H. Baxter (ASN: 1038455), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery C, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the engagement on the Marne, Corporal Baxter was wounded on the morning of 15 July 1918, but remained to perform his duties as messenger until 25 July 1918, when he was compelled to go to the hospital. He was repeatedly exposed to the greatest danger persistently and courageously rendered great assistance in carrying the wounded to the First Aid Station.
