    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Edgar S. Weber (ASN: 2314209), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Weber served with his battery courageously and efficiently throughout the entire operations on the Marne, at St. Mihiel, and in the Argonne. During the operations north of Verdun, 13 October 1918, while acting as gunner of a forward piece during a heavy counterattack, he faithfully and coolly served his piece until the last round of ammunition had been fired, all the while under heavy shell fire and machine gun and rifle fire from two directions.
