By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Joseph Morzuch, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery C, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Morzuch displayed exceptional bravery in the Marne Defensive, 15 July 1918, when, after his Chief of Section had been wounded, he took command of the gun section and led it into battle. He was severely wounded at St. Mihiel, 12 September 1918, but returned and acted as Chief of Section during the difficult fighting in the Argonne.
