By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Dennis DuBois (ASN: 107163), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery C, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in the Verdun-Argonne engagement, on 8 October 1918, after three of his officers of the Battery had been wounded, Sergeant DuBois promptly acted as Chief of Platoon, under the most trying circumstances, shell fire and lack of communication with the other platoon. In the Marne, St. Mihiel and the Verdun-Argonne-Meuse engagements he always displayed exceptional coolness, judgment and ability in performance of his duties and in steadying his men. He repeatedly exposed himself to danger without fear of personal injury.
