By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant David Bosman, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery E, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on the morning of 15 July 1918, near Greves Farm, France, Sergeant Bosman under extremely heavy shell and gas fire, after a number of his gun crew were wounded, continued in the execution of his duties, handling his men with great diplomacy and tact, encouraging them to greater effort after hours of hard work. He continued on bravely until wounded severely, and was forced to leave for medical attention.
