    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Supply Sergeant James R. Kable, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Kable served his battery faithfully and courageously throughout the action on the Marne, at St. Mihiel, and in the Argonne. On the night of 14 – 15 July 1918, being non-commissioned officer ion charge of battery echelon, he rendered valuable services in forwarding ammunition and caring for the wounded under heavy gas and high explosive bombardment.
