By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Robert E. Wilson, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, while acting as Communication Officer during the action on the Marne, Lieutenant Wilson rendered invaluable services in establishing and maintaining communication between his battery and Battalion Post of Command and between the batter and forward Observation Post. At all times he was fearless in the face of great danger, making frequent trips over his lines and helping his men effect repairs under terrific shell fire.
