Coyle (ASN: 544431), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Division Band, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, he displayed great courage and devotion to duty during the bombardment 14 and 15 July 1918. With his comrades he worked untiringly under the most adverse conditions and evacuated wounded from the forward positions being at times under both enemy and friendly fire
