By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Horseshoer Ben H. Winebrenner (ASN: 2399127), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Supply Company, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the battle of the Marine, Horseshoer Winebrenner carried ammunition and rations through the thickest of the German bombardment to the men of the 2d Battalion. He assisted voluntarily in getting wounded men off the field and into the First Aid Station. In the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, although at no time called on to make trips to the front, he several times volunteered his services to help in carrying rations through to the troops.
