By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Wagoner William F. Boyle (ASN: 2182501), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Supply Company, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on the morning of 15 July 1918, Wagoner Boyle drove a wagon load of ammunition across the aviation field and into the Bois d’Aigremont during a very heavy bombardment of the Germans. On his return trip he carried out of the woods a load of wounded which the ambulances had not been able to reach.
