By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Edgar Wilkinson (ASN: 1940354), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company F, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Cunel, France, on 9 October 1918, with his platoon Sergeant Wilkinson successfully held the right flank of the regiment against a heavy enemy counter attack during which action heavy casualties were suffered and many of the enemy captured. By Sergeant Wilkinson’s action the front line was retained in all places. On 29 October 1918, Sergeant Wilkinson acted as point on a successful patrol through the enemy lines, bringing back valuable information.
