By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Gugliemo Rossesston, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company G, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, without being commanded, Sergeant Rossesston, on 25 July 1918, reorganized a platoon after it had been demoralized by shell fire north of Jaulgonne, placed it in a safe position and himself went through heavy shelling in order to find the company from which the platoon had separated itself. By so doing he aided greatly in the success gained by his unit.
