By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Henry B. Bennett, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company C, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on the night of 14 October 1918, under heavy machine gun and artillery fire, Sergeant Bennett carried important information from the advanced elements of the regiment thin in the Bois de Pultiere to his Regimental Commander at the advanced Post of Command of the regiment north of Cunel woods, and from there to the advanced Post of Command of the Division Commander, bringing with him a captured German prisoner, who also disclosed important information with reference to the enemy.
