By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal [then Private] Mike Paskli (ASN: 542539), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company I, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 15 October 1918, in Bois de la Pultiere, when his squad had become lost from the Battalion and his Corporal killed, Corporal Paskli took command of the squad and led his men against a German machine gun, capturing the machine gun and driving out its crew. Continuing on he attacked two other machine guns and captured both together with thirteen prisoners. He did this while under heavy shell fire.
