By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Lieutenant (Infantry) Malvern J. Nabb, United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 15 July 1918, at Fossoy, France, Lieutenant Nabb led three platoons to reinforce the right flank in the fighting which took place at this time and exhibited the utmost courage and ability to lead men. His conduct throughout the night and following day was conspicuous for many acts of valor and personal heroism. Under heavy shell fire he rescued several soldiers who had fallen by the river bank. He was later killed while fighting near Argentol on 28 July 1918.
