Wolf, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Headquarters Detachment, 5th Infantry Brigade, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Wolf, Motor Cycle Orderly, delivered messages from Brigade Post of Command to Grande Ballois and La Rocq Ferme, at a time when all roads were being subjected to intense bombardment by H.E. and Gas Shells.

While serving with Headquarters Detachment, 5th Infantry Brigade, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, when a motorcycle orderly from the 7th Infantry arrived at Brigade Post of Command in a gassed condition, Private Wolf, Motor Cycle Orderly, took his machine to La Rocq Ferme, and delivered messages throughout the day for the Colonel of the 7th Infantry.
